Located on the coast just 18 miles north of Boston, Salem State College combines academic quality with affordability, offering more than 30 diverse undergraduate and graduate degree programs. SSC is a fully accredited, comprehensive college with a total enrollment of more than 9,200 full and part-time students.

SSC is proud of its distinction as the only four-year public college serving the North Shore. A diverse campus, with 165 international students representing 38 nations, SSC retains the friendly, small community atmosphere that has characterized it since its early days.

In addition to traditional strengths in education, nursing, social work, social sciences and the liberal arts, Salem State College offers respected majors in theater, fine and performing arts, business, biology, chemistry and physics, communications, computer science, criminal justice, geography, geological sciences, mathematics and sports fitness leisure. Majors in occupational therapy and aquaculture were added in 1998.

The campus is located near the center of historic Salem, home to many significant cultural activities, and is accessible by automobile, bus, commuter rail, or boat.
